
Princeton Faces North Dakota in NCAA Championship

PRINCETON, NJ -- The 2008 ECAC Hockey Tournament Champion
Princeton Tigers will make their second NCAA Tournament appearance
next weekend when they take on North Dakota in the Madison
Regional. The 15th-ranked Tigers punched their ticket to the NCAAs
with a 4-1 win over Harvard in the Bank of America ECAC
Hockey Championship title game last night in Albany.
Princeton will head to the Kohl Center in Madison, Wis., where it
will be the fourth seed and take on the region's top seed, North
Dakota. The other game at the regional will feature Denver and
Wisconsin. The Madison Regional is a Saturday/Sunday Regional and
Princeton's game will start at 3 p.m. eastern.
The other three Regionals will take place in Albany, N.Y., Colorado
Springs, Colo., and Worcester, Mass. Princeton faced two other
tournament teams this season in Clarkson and Notre Dame. The Tigers
were swept by both teams. Clarkson is in the Albany Regional and
will take on St. Cloud State, while Notre Dame is in the Colorado
Springs Regional and is paired with New Hampshire.
Princeton is making its second NCAA Tournament Appearance. The
Tigers last played in the NCAA Tournament in 1998 when Princeton
lost in the first round to the eventual tournament champion
Michigan.
Princeton and North Dakota have met twice with games coming in 2000
and 2003. The 2000 meeting came in a tournament hosted by Wisconsin
in Milwaukee and North Dakota took that game 5-4 on a day that
Princeton netminder Nate Nomeland made 60 saves. North Dakota took
the other meeting 5-2 in the first game of the 2002-03 season at
Hobey Baker Rink.
Saturday's game will air on ESPNU tape delayed as well as other
regional sports networks, which will be announced later this week.
