Iowa Signs Westgarth

DES MOINES, IA -- The Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League today announced that they have signed former Princeton defenseman Brett Westgarth to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).
Westgarth, 25, registered 12 points (2-10-12) and a plus-2 rating in 27 games with the Flint Generals of the IHL (International Hockey League) this season.
Westgarth played 5 games in the AHL last season with the Syracuse Crunch registering 1 assist and 6 PIM. The 6-2, 215 pound, right shooting defender from Amherstburg, ON spent four years at Princeton University where he played in 114 career games and notched 4 goals and 20 assists for 24 points and 110 penalty minutes. Westgarth was a member of the ECAC all-Academic Team in 2004, 2006 and again in 2007.
