INCH Honors Biega
The following article featuring Harvard defenseman Danny Biega appeared February 21 on the Inside College Hockey (INCH) Web site.
The INCH Power Rankings and other national polls are published almost every week during the season. They're not worth much in reality, other than generating discussion and giving some good programs notoriety for their in-season successes. Even the PairWise only matters one day a year. That said, INCH First Shift is our place for discussion, and this week's entry includes plenty of chatter about the latest national rankings and the voting process. We also salute Harvard's Danny Biega, the INCH Player of the Week.
DANNY BIEGA
HARVARD
So. | D | Montreal, Quebec
His Statistics: 3 GP, 3-4-7, +1, GWG in three games vs. Boston University, Cornell, and Colgate.
His Impact: Biega has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing season for the Crimson, whose back-to-back wins this week—the first last Monday against Boston University in the Beanpot third-place game and the second Friday at archrival Cornell—were the team’s first consecutive victories since beating Rensselaer on Nov. 6 and St. Lawrence six days later.
A third-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in last year’s NHL Draft, Biega scored a goal and added two assists in the win against the Terriers and had a pair of assists and the game-winning goal against the Big Red at Lynah Rink. He scored Harvard’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss at Colgate Saturday.
