Thrashers Recall Welch
The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled former Harvard
defenseman Noah Welch from the Chicago Wolves of the
American Hockey League, according to General Manager Rick
Dudley.
Welch, 28, has recorded 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in 39
games for the Wolves this season. The 6-4, 215-pound defenseman was
previously recalled by Atlanta on two occasions (Oct. 26 and Nov.
2), and appeared in two games, registering one shot.
The Brighton, Mass., native has appeared in 75 career NHL games
with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning
and Atlanta, earning nine points (four goals, five assists). Welch
has also tallied 76 points (19 goals, 57 assists) in 198 AHL games
with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Rochester and Chicago.
Welch was signed by the Thrashers as a free agent on July 13,
2009.
