Hope everyone had a great and safe holiday.  For me, it was really great to be able to go home to Montreal for five days. One of my favorite parts about being home was that the outdoor rinks were up and ready to skate on. Even though we had a nice five day break from hockey, I guess I couldn’t really take a break from the sport, I spent a lot of time on the outdoor rinks. The experience always takes me back to my childhood, and made me relax and realize how much I really love the sport of hockey.

Growing up it was always a tradition to have 2 vs. 2 games with my brothers. We live on the St. Lawrence  River in Montreal, so every year when it froze, we would spend all day out there. Even though I have had a lot of great opportunities in my hockey career, the outdoor games with my brothers are still, and will always be, my fondest memories as a hockey player. That being said, as I sit here writing this blog, millions of spectators anxiously wait for the start of the Winter Classic, one of the most highly anticipated sporting events for the year. An event, as playing outdoor hockey with my brothers did for me, takes the players and viewers back to the days when nothing mattered but having a stick and a puck.
