MacDonald Nets Extension in Germany

Craig MacDonald, a former Harvard standout, has agreed to a one-year contract extension with Adler Mannheim (Germany), the team announced Monday.

MacDonald, who has spent the past two seasons in Germany, appeared in 59 games with the Eagles in 2010-11, scoring eight goals and adding 26 assists. He amassed 19 goals and 23 assists in 56 games with the DEG Metro Stars in 2009-10.

Prior to playing in Europe, MacDonald spent 11 seasons competing in the National Hockey League (NHL) and American Hockey League (AHL). The Antigonish, Nova Scotia native tallied 11 goals and 24 assists in 233 NHL games with Carolina, Florida, Boston, Calgary, Chicago and Tampa Bay. MacDonald registered 94 goals and 168 assists in 390 AHL games with five teams.

Hartford's third pick, 88th overall, in the 1996 Entry Draft, MacDonald played two seasons at Harvard, collecting 13 goals and 20 assists in 66 games from 1995-97.
