Harvard coach Ted Donato is feeling mighty chipper these days about his team’s chances heading into tonight’s season opener against Princeton at Bright Hockey Center.
“I think we’re a young team, but that inexperience has also brought a lot of enthusiasm,” Donato said. “You couple that with a real desire from our older juniors and seniors to get back to the winning ways, and I think there’s a lot of reason for optimism.”
Harvard unveiled its new edition Oct. 21 in a 7-4 exhibition win against Western Ontario, bolstering Donato’s belief that his club could match its considerable potential. Forwards Luke Grenier, Alex Killorn and Conor Morrison each scored two goals, and Marshall Everson added one. Bruins prospect Alex Fallstrom was joined by freshman defenseman Patrick McNally and freshman forward Tommy O’Regan with a pair of assists each. Sophomore goaltender Raphael Girard stopped 15-of-16 shots he faced, and freshman Stephen Michalek finished with 12 saves.
