Reese Agrees to Isles' Offer

UNIONDALE, NY – The New York Islanders announced today that they have agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract with defenseman Dylan Reese.

Reese, 25, enters his fifth professional season this year and his second with the Islanders. The Pittsburgh, PA native made his NHL debut last year with the Islanders, scoring four points (2 goals, 2 assists) and totaling 14 penalty minutes in 19 games. He also added four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in five Calder Cup Playoff Games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

“Dylan was a valued member of our organization last season,” said Islanders General Manager Garth Snow. “We look forward to having him with us again next season.”

The Islanders acquired Reese from the Columbus Blue Jackets on March 2, 2010 in exchange for forward Greg Moore. Prior to being traded, Reese (6’0, 195 lbs.) had four goals, 18 assists and 31 penalty minutes in 51 games for the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. The Blue Jackets signed the blue-liner as a free agent in September of 2009, after he’d played the previous two seasons for the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage.

Originally selected by the New York Rangers in the seventh round (209th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Reese spent his first professional season with the Hartford WolfPack in 2007-08. Reese played his collegiate hockey at Harvard University, where he served as captain and was selected Team MVP during his senior season. He was also a two-time All-Ivy First Team All Star.
