Biega Rates High Ranking by NHL Central Scouting

NHL Central Scouting 2010 Final Rankings

Harvard freshman defenseman Danny Biega is ranked 46th among North American skaters eligible for the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft in NHL Central Scouting's final rankings, released Wednesday.

Biega is one of five collegiate players to make the list of the top 240 prospects (210 skaters and 30 goaltenders). The colleges represented are Notre Dame (Riley Sheahan, center, ranked 22nd), Minnesota State (Tyler Pitlick, center, 18th) and Wisconsin (John Ramage, defenseman, 131st). Boston College is represented by Parker Milner (ranked 26th among goaltenders).

Biega, who plays on the Harvard squad with older brothers Alex and Danny, skated in 32 games in 2009-10. He recorded five goals and four assists for nine points. He and his brothers are the second set of three brothers to play for the Crimson in the same season.

Last season's final Central Scouting rankings featured several of Biega's Harvard classmates, led by Louis Leblanc, who was ranked 13th and was selected by his hometown Montreal Canadiens in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. David Valek (72nd), Brendan Rempel (98th) and Marshall Everson (181st) were also ranked. Alex Fallstrom was selected in the fourth round of the draft.
