Reese Makes NHL Debut
ATLANTA -- Dylan Reese, a former Harvard standout, made his National Hockey League (NHL) debut Thursday as a member of the New York Islanders. Reese and the Islanders dropped a 6-3 decision to the Atlanta Thrashers.
Wearing jersey number 42, Reese saw 11 minutes, six seconds of
action. He finished the game with a -1 rating. Reese joined the
Islanders less than three days after being acquired by the
Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL) in a
trade from the Syracuse Crunch. Reese made his Sound Tigers' debut
Tuesday against the Hershey Bears.
Reese played in 51 games this season for the Crunch and scored
four goals and 18 assists for 22 points. He recorded a +12 rating
and 31 penalty minutes.
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Reese played the previous two seasons
with the San Antonio Rampage, totaling 35 points (two goals and 33
assists) in 134 games. He was drafted by the New York Rangers in
the seventh round (209th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. The
25-year-old Reese played in 10 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack in
the 2006-07, accumulating four assists, after completing his final
season at Harvard.
In four seasons with the Crimson, Reese competed in 121 games, amassing 21 goals and 40 assists. He accumulated 134 minutes in penalties.
