Welch Returns to Atlanta
The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled former Harvard
defenseman Noah Welch from the Chicago Wolves of the American
Hockey League, according to General Manager Rick Dudley.
Welch, 28, has recorded two assists in eight games for the Wolves
this season and was previously recalled by Atlanta on Oct. 26,
appearing in one game (at the NY Rangers on Oct. 27) prior to being
re-assigned on Oct. 28.
The 6-4, 215-pound defenseman has appeared in 74 career NHL games
with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning
and Atlanta, earning nine points (four goals, five assists). Welch
has also tallied 66 points (17 goals, 49 assists) in 167 AHL games
with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Rochester and Chicago.
The Brighton, Massachusetts, native was signed by the Thrashers as
a free agent on July 13, 2009.
