Boston College coach Jerry York knows his Eagles are in for a tough test when they meet Harvard today in the 58th annual Beanpot Tournament at the Garden.

“I’ve watched them fairly closely because they’re always going to be an opponent of us, and this year we play twice,” York said. “Their slow start to the season was no indication of the team they’d have as the season progressed.

“They have a lot of young talent that had to get accustomed to playing Division 1 hockey, and they played shorthanded through an assortment of injuries in November and through December. But when they’re healthy and get maturity, they’re going to be a dominant team worthy of going to the national tournament. We know they are a very worthy opponent.”

BC leads the all-time series 68-44-5, including 24-13 in the Beanpot. The clubs met Dec. 9, with the Eagles taking a 3-2 road win behind 25 saves from freshman Parker Milner and a game-winning goal by sophomore forward Jimmy Hayes.
