Catching Up with Dylan Reese

The following article featuring former Harvard standout Dylan Reese appeared September 2 on the Syracuse Post-Standard Web site.

I'm starting to get back in touch with a few potential Syracuse Crunch players to see how their summers went and ask their thoughts about preseason. Here's a few updates, with more to follow as I do more interviews.

Dylan Reese

Reese played in San Antonio last year and is coming to Columbus camp on a tryout contract. I asked him about his unusual line last year - one goal and 27 assists.

"When I look back at that line, I'm embarrassed I had one goal. I'm like, 'How is that even possible?' I hit a point where I lost confidence. I think subliminally it starts to bother you. I think you start to pass up opportunities (to shoot). I was the brunt of jokes. No question, I want more goals. My shot is something I need to work on.''

Reese has a degree in economics from Harvard. There, he was a teammate of former Syracuse player Tyler Kolarik. I asked Reese if he gets any kidding from teammates because of his academic background.

"I catch a lot of flak if I don't know something,'' he said. "I'm supposed to know everything. The fact of the matter is that I'm a regular guy.''
