The Harvard men’s hockey team plays at home for the first time in more than a month, looking to start a midseason turnaround against its oldest rivals. The Crimson completes its season series against Brown in Friday night’s game and faces Yale for the first time Saturday.

Behind the Bench
Former Crimson captain and 13-year NHL veteran Ted Donato ’91 is in his fifth season as The Robert D. Ziff ’88 Head Coach for Harvard Men’s Ice Hockey. He owns a 77-62-13 record and three ECAC title-game appearances.

Party Like It’s 1989
Harvard Athletics is celebrating the Crimson’s 1989 NCAA championship at Saturday night’s game. The team is reuniting for the game and will be honored on the ice during the first intermission.

This season is the 20th anniversary of the Crimson’s NCAA title run. Led by Hobey Baker winner Lane MacDonald ’88-89, the Crimson won its first 15 games, finished 31-3 and captured the ECAC regular-season and Beanpot championships along the way. Ed Krayer ’89 scored the overtime winner to lift Harvard to a 4-3 win against Minnesota in the tournament final, and Ted Donato was named Most Outstanding Player. The lineup featured four Olympians (two former, two future), three players who would earn All-America honors in their careers, three who would go on to play in the NHL and two future Division I head coaches.
