Harvard coach Ted Donato admits the talent on first-round
Beanpot foe Boston University is enough to provide opposing coaches
with sleep deprivation.
Yet, the Crimson mentor adopts the popular “Yes, we
can” philosophy heading into today’s (5 p.m.) opening
matchup in the 57-year-old tournament.
“They are an excellent team, as talented a team, I think, as
there is as in college hockey. Period,” Donato said of
second-ranked BU (19-5-1), which is 12-1-1 in its last 14 games and
could move up to the nation’s No. 1 ranking when polling is
announced today. “Their defense, to me, is the best defense
I’ve seen in the five years I’ve been coaching college
hockey. One-to-six you have guys that can move the puck. They
really add an element to their game both offensively and
defensively that is tough to combat. This year, they’re
getting a more consistent effort in net and they have some special
players up front. That (Colin) Wilson has really made a great jump.
He’s very impressive and we’ll have our hands full.
