Biega, Leblanc Earn Preseason Accolades
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Harvard senior defenseman Alex Biega has
been named to the Inside College Hockey preseason All-America third
team and freshman Louis Leblanc has been named to the INCH
all-rookie squad, the website announced Thursday.
Leblanc was also recognized Thursday on College Hockey News' list
of "instant impacts," freshmen the site expects to make their mark
right away.
It is the third preseason honor for Biega, who was named to the
ECAC Hockey coaches' and media's preseason all-league teams earlier
in the week. The 116th captain of Harvard men's hockey, Biega is
coming off an All-Ivy League and All-ECAC season. He totaled 20
points on four goals and 16 assists, becoming the first defenseman
since Don Sweeney '88 in 1987-88 to lead the Crimson in
assists.
Leblanc received his second recognition of the week from INCH. The
site previously named him the nation's top freshman forward in its
annual recruiting rankings. Leblanc joins Harvard after one season
with the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League. He was
named the league's Rookie of the Year after registering 28 goals
and 31 assists for 59 points.
