Walsh Joins HIFK Helsinki
HIFK Helsinki (Finland) announced today the signing of former Harvard defenseman Tom Walsh to a one-year contract for the 2008-09 season.
Walsh heads to Finland after spending last season with the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League. The native of Arlington, Mass., represented the Sharks in 76 contests, accumulating six goals and 30 assists. The 2007-08 season was Walsh's second stint with Worcester--he played 29 games with the Sharks in 2006-07, amassing one goal and eight assists.
Walsh also played professionally with the Fresno Falcons of the East Coast Hockey League. In 2006-07, he played 43 games with Fresno, scoring two goals and assisting on seven tallies.
A four-year standout with the Crimson (2002-06), Walsh competed in 125 games. He registered nine goals and 31 assists as a collegian.
