Crimson Characters: David MacDonald
The following feature story on Harvard co-captain David MacDonald appeared January 16 on the Harvard Web site. It is part of a year-long commitment to highlight Harvard's captains and many other intriguing student-athletes.
Men's hockey senior David
MacDonald has received many awards throughout his athletic career
but he ranks being named a Harvard captain above them all. He and
Mike
Taylor make up the first set of Crimson hockey co-captains since
the 1979-80 season.
MacDonald was a seventh round selection of the San Jose Sharks in
2004 but chose to come to Harvard instead of pursuing an NHL career
straight out of high school.
"Before coming to Harvard, I was not ready for the professional
game and my selection was based on an expectation of development
throughout my career at Harvard. Nevertheless, even if I had a
choice, I would not trade my experience at Harvard for anything.
The college game rests on the pride of competing for your school
and the love of the game."
