Panthers' Welch Recovering

The following article on former Harvard defenseman Noah Welch appeared in the November 23 issue of The Miami Herald.

Former Harvard defenseman Noah Welch took a timeout from a recent workout to fiddle with the iPod supplying music to the Panthers' weight room. With sweat pouring off his face, someone joked he should be careful not to electrocute himself.

No, Welch isn't taking his rehabilitation easy.

''By any means, I'm not taking a break,'' said Welch, who had season-ending shoulder last month. ``I'm working on my lower body every day, and that's something I need. I need strength in my lower body.''

Welch has to keep his shoulder in a sling or have it strapped down during workouts for another few weeks.
