WILKES-BARRE TWP. -- Ryan Lannon was so impressed with Matt Carkner's Carks' Kids program that the Penguins defenseman decided to keep it going this season even though Carkner is no longer with the team.
Lannon, now in his third season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, contacted the Penguins' office during the summer to let them know he intended to pick up where Carkner, now with Binghamton, left off, organizing a holiday toy drive to benefit the Kirby House.
Earlier this month he got the details in place and Tuesday morning the players' wives and girlfriends helped wrap the presents after the team's morning practice at Wachovia Arena.
