Johnson Goes Wild (with Audio)

The Minnesota Wild has made a waiver wire pickup today, claiming right wing Nick Johnson, a former Dartmouth standout, from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Johnson appeared in four games with Pittsburgh last season and posted a goal and two assists. He spent the majority of the season in Wilkes-Barre of the AHL where he notched 20 goals and 19 helpers in 48 games.

Johnson was Pittsburgh’s third round pick in 2004, and has played under Wild head coach Mike Yeo during a brief stint with the Penguins.

Yeo said Johnson has a very good chance to make the team, and he’s hoping the Calgary native can get to Columbus in time to crack tonight’s lineup. You can hear Yeo’s comments on the pickup by clicking here.
