Former Dartmouth hockey player Matt Reber shares a Salt Lake City suburban apartment with Riley Emmerson, a mountain of a man who stands 6-foot-8 and weighs 255 pounds. However, it's another, much smaller roommate who's captured Reber’s imagination.

“He can pretty much fit anywhere there's open space,” Reber said of Duke, the pet ferret of Emmerson, a teammate on the ECHL's Utah Grizzlies. “He’ll hide inside the couch and the Lazy-Boy (chair) and he's gotten trapped behind the dryer. He really just sleeps and eats, but when he does run around, he’s pretty entertaining.”

Reber's been putting on a small show of his own, firing in five goals and adding 12 assists during the Grizzlies' first 23 games. That makes him the team's second-leading scorer behind Mitch Fadden, a former fourth-round draft pick of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning. Reber, 22, joined Utah late last season, piling up 12 points in nine games and earning an invitation to rejoin the roster for the 2011-12 campaign.
