Holiday Break Updates: Mosey, Lindblad and Jones
HANOVER, N.H. - It won't be until Dec. 30 that the men's hockey team takes the ice again after an 18-day break for the Holidays. A 4-1 victory over Sacred Heart on Dec. 11 at Thompson Arena wrapped up the first half of the season for the Big Green at 5-5-1 overall (3-3-1 ECAC Hockey, 1-1-1 Ivy League).
During the break, players have taken the opportunity to go home and be with their families and friends. Freshman Charlie Mosey (Prior Lake, Minn.), sophomore Matt Lindblad (Winnetka, Ill.) and senior Doug Jones (Marietta, Ga.) took the time to keep DartmouthSports.com updated on what they have been doing with this free time.
Charlie Mosey - Fr. / F / Prior Lake,
Minn.
My first night back I had a knee hockey tourney with my buddies.
On Sunday we went to the Metrodome to see the Vikings get
demolished by the Saints (42-20). We are waiting for the weather to
get a little colder so we can play pond hockey, but that hasn't
happened just yet.
I have spent a lot of time with my mom because she is leaving in a few days to spend Christmas with my sister. On Christmas Day, I plan to go ice fishing with my dad and grandpa on our lake.
Matt Lindblad - So. / F / Winnetka,
Ill.
So far on break it's been pretty low key. Aside from lifting
and skating to stay in shape each day, I've been passing my time
watching football and enjoying the break with my family.
Though my dad works in Connecticut, he will be flying in
Thursday night for the end of the week and weekend.
For Christmas Eve, I plan on spending the night with my Nana and my mom's side of the family. Christmas Day, we open presents followed by a morning brunch. Christmas Night will be spent with my dad's family, although my grandparents on this side of the family left Monday to head back to Arizona. So far it's been a very relaxing break, but I'm sure like the rest of the guys, I'm very eager to get back on campus and in the swing of things. We have a great tournament coming up and I'm ready to get back at it.
Doug Jones - Sr. / F / Marietta,
Ga.
So far, I have rested and spent time with family and
friends. I have worked out to maintain some level of
conditioning and played pick up hockey with former and current
players who live in the Atlanta area.
Thursday night, I will play in the Atlanta Fire annual alumni game and it will be great to see some people I grew up playing with. My plans for Christmas are to spend time at home with my family and rest up for the second half of the season.
Dartmouth returns to action on Dec. 30 against Holy Cross as part of the Ledyard Classic at Thompson Arena. The Big Green take on the Crusaders at 4 p.m. and depending on the outcome will play host to either Merrimack or St. Lawrence the following day. The Warriors and Saints will play the first game of the weekend on Friday, Dec. 30 at 4 p.m.
Saturday's (Dec. 31) Consolation Game is set for 4 p.m. with the Championship set to follow at 7 p.m.
