Markowitz Comes Up Aces
The Alaska Aces have signed former Dartmouth defenseman Danny Markowitz, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced Friday. Markowitz joins the Aces immediately and is expected to be in the lineup on Friday night when Alaska visits the Idaho Steelheads.
Markowitz, 23, is in his rookie season, and comes to the Aces after opening the year with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the SPHL. At the time of his signing, he was tied for fourth in scoring among SPHL blue liners with 6 points (2g, 4a) in 9 games. All six of his points came in the first five games of the season, when he registered a point in four of those five.
Prior to turning pro, the Jericho, NY native played three seasons of collegiate hockey at Dartmouth. He appeared in 80 games, before missing his senior year with an injury.
Before college, the 6’0”, 182 lbs. Markowitz played in the USHL, splitting the 2006-2007 season between the Tri-City Storm and the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets.
