Hanover -- It was a tiny moment during Dartmouth's 5-1 defeat of Connecticut last night at Thompson Arena, but it didn't go unnoticed on the Big Green bench.
As the Huskies broke out of their zone, down 1-0 and early in the second period, the puck jumped ahead towards back-skating Dartmouth defenseman Connor Goggin. The junior slowed in anticipation of stepping forward, playing the biscuit off the bounce and transitioning his team back to offense. Except the puck didn't cooperate, hopping over Goggin's stick and leaving him flatfooted while an opposing forward blasted by and through neutral ice.
For a split second, it appeared UConn had lucked into a breakaway. But as Goggin turned and scrambled desperately back towards his own zone, his defensive partner swooped in. Cutting across the ice and behind Goggin, Mike Keenan headed the Husky off, forcing him into the corner and then blocking a shot taken from a sharp angle.
