Avalanche Sign Galiardi
The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed former Dartmouth forward T.J. Galiardi to a one-year contract through the 2011-12 season.
Galiardi, 23, was limited to 35 games this past season due to two separate injuries. He missed 17 games due to a wrist injury from Nov. 12 to Dec. 15 and missed the final 28 games of the season due to a forearm injury suffered on Feb. 9 at Minnesota. The Calgary, Alberta native finished with seven goals and eight assists for a total of 15 points.
Selected by Colorado in the second round (55th overall) of the 2007 Entry Draft, Galiardi has tallied 58 points (25g/33a) in 116 career NHL games. He recorded 39 points (15g/24a) in 70 games as a rookie in 2009-10, ranking him fifth among all NHL rookies in both goals and assists. He also dressed in all six playoff games for the Avalanche that spring, posting two assists while leading all Colorado forwards in ice time at 20:49 per game.
“We are glad to have T.J. under contract,” said Avalanche General Manager/ Executive Vice President Greg Sherman. “We expect him to report to camp fully healthy and ready to go.”
