Team Notes: Dartmouth Hosts Connecticut in Non-Conference Tilt
HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's hockey team has two non conference games left before the Big Green tackles 12 straight ECAC Hockey contests. Tonight the University of Connecticut comes into Thompson Arena for a 7 p.m. tilt.
Dartmouth is coming off a split last weekend with Yale and Brown. On Friday the Big Green dropped a hard-fought 2-1 game to the No. 1 Bulldogs before rebounding to take a 3-1 victory over the Bears on Saturday. The win improved Dartmouth to 8-5-2 overall, 6-3-1 in the ECAC and 4-1-0 in the Ivy League. Currently the Big Green is third in the ECAC Hockey standings with 13 points.
Scott Fleming (Plainfield, Ont.) has become the team's leader with 17 points. He is tied for the team lead with seven goals and is second with 10 assists. Freshman Matt Lindlbad (Winnetka, Ill.) is second with 14 points while Fleming's linemates Adam Estoclet (Orono, Minn.) and Matt Reber (Edina, Minn.) each have 13.
Junior James Mello (Rehoboth, Mass.) made 68 saves in the two games last weekend and is ranked second nationally in save percentage .940. With his 1.85 goals against average, Mello ranks fifth. and is second overall in the ECAC.
With a 6-8-3 record, Connecticut has had just one loss in its last four games. The Huskies have garnered wins over Army, Canisius, American International, Niagara, Sacred Heart and Holy Cross. Six players are scoring in double-figures with freshman Cole Schneider leading the way with 16 points. Sophomore Sean Ambrosie has 15 while senior Andrew Olson and a pair of freshmen, Jordan Sims and Billy Latta have 12 points each. Sophomore Miles Winter is right behind with 11 points. Garrett Bartus has played the majority of time in net with a 3.56 goals against average and a .904 save percentage. He has played in 16 games and has a 6-7-3 record. Sophomore Matt Grogan has made two appearances and freshman Rob Behling has played in one game.
