Team Notes: Dartmouth Hosts 22nd Annual Tournament
HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men's hockey returns to the ice for just its second game in the month of December on Thursday the 30th against Mercyhurst College at 7 p.m. in the Ledyard Hockey Classic. ECAC Hockey foe, Colgate and No. 4 Boston College will square off in the opening game of the tourney at 4 p.m. The consolation and championship games will be at 4 and 7 p.m. on Friday the 31st.
Livestats and live video will be provided for all four games. Livestats will be free while video will be available through Dartmouth's Big Green Insider on a paid basis.
This will be the Big Green's 22nd time hosting a tournament on its campus in Hanover and it will be the first time for both Mercyhurst and Colgate to participate while Boston College played in Dartmouth's Auld Lang Syne tourney in 1978.
Before leaving for its holiday break, Dartmouth had a three-game win streak snapped in a 6-5 loss to twin-state rival, Vermont on Dec. 12. These two games will be just the second and third for the Big Green in the last month of 2010. Mercyhurst enters the weekend on a two-game win streak after taking 8-3 and 4-3 wins over Alabama-Huntsville on Dec. 16 and 17. BC, the defending national champion has won its last three games, including two wins over Boston University, 9-5 and 5-2 on Dec. 3 and 4. Colgate comes to Thompson Arena with a 1-3 record in December. The Raiders have dropped their last three against Niagara and Robert Morris.
Dartmouth will be back in action the first
weekend of January by playing two ECAC Hockey games against No. 1
Yale and Brown on Jan. 7 and 8.
