Peters to be Inducted into 2010 New Hampshire Legends of Hockey

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The New Hampshire Legends of Hockey announced its 2010 inductees to the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Hall of Fame and former Dartmouth hockey captain and Director of Athletics, Seaver Peters is to be honored. The 12 new inductees will be honored in an induction ceremony and luncheon at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 10:30 am.

The New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Hall of Fame was established in 2001 to honor New Hampshire's hockey elite --- men and women who have made significant contributions in New Hampshire as players, coaches, officials, builders, or media representatives. Since its inception and including this year's honorees, 82 deserving individuals have been inducted.

Peters graduated in 1954 and was captain his senior year. He joined the athletic department staff in 1963 and served as the director of athletics from 1967-83.

During his 16-year tenure, Peters was one of the nation's most highly regarded athletic directors. His most significant contributions included numerous improvements to athletic facilities (including Thompson Arena that opened in 1974). An investment advisor in Hanover for the past 20 years, Peters has remained involved in Dartmouth athletics in an advisory capacity on various projects. He is a founding member of the Friends of Hockey program.

Tickets for the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Luncheon may be purchased this fall through the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey web site at nhlegendsofhockey.com or contact Jim Hayes at hayes743@comcast.net or 603-226-4022.

The New Hampshire Legends of Hockey solicits Hall of Fame nominations from the public, both in media announcements and on its website. To be eligible for consideration, nomination forms (and related information) must be submitted to the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey by April 1 of each year.

Nominees for induction in the Coach, Official, Builder, and Media categories must have made significant and demonstrated contributions to the sport of ice hockey in the state of New Hampshire.
