Although David Jones has lately contributed much to helping the Avalanche win, scoring goals hasn't been a part of it.
Jones takes a 10-game scoring drought into tonight's game against Minnesota at the Pepsi Center, and Avs coach Joe Sacco thinks he knows the reason.
"He's got to be more difficult to play against," Sacco said Wednesday. "Jonesie's strength is his skating, (but) he's got to play physical. He's a guy that's got to finish checks, win one-on-one battles along the boards, down low in the offensive zone. He's playing 18, 19 minutes a night, so he's going to get some chances. I think Jonesie has more to give, and I think he knows that."
