Big Green Land 17 on All-Academic Team
HANOVER, N.H. – ECAC Hockey announced its
All-Academic team as Dartmouth men's hockey had 17 members named to
the 2009-10 squad with five players as either three of four-year
honorees.
Senior captain Peter Boldt (Greenwich, Conn.) is a three-time
honoree while classmate Joe Gaudet (Etna, N.H.) is the only player
to earn the distinction all four seasons. Fellow senior Kevin
McCarthy (Stoneham, Mass.) was named to the team for the first
time.
Players to be named three years in a row include, juniors Scott Fleming (Plainfield, Ont.), Danny Markowitz (Jericho, N.Y.) and Evan Stephens (Bessemer, Mich.).
Six athletes earned the award for their second year as juniors
Matt Reber (Edina, Minn.), Kyle Reeds (St. Louis, Mo.) and Joe
Stejskal (Grand Rapids, Minn.) along with sophomores Doug Jones
(Marietta, Ga.), Paul Lee (Garden City, N.Y.), Troy Mattila
(Rockford, Ill.) and Nick Walsh (Shannonville, Ont.) each were
named this season.
Players who were named to the team for the first time include
sophomores Jim Gaudet (Etna, N.H.) and Kyle Schussler (Okotoks,
Alta.) along with freshmen Jason Bourgea (South Burlington, Vt.)
and Alex Goodship (Blackfalds, Alta.).
One hundred eighty-one student-athletes representing the ECAC Hockey’s 12 men’s programs were named to the All-Academic team. One hundred ten of this year’s athletes were also named to the team last year and 54 have the distinction of receiving the honor the last three seasons.
Players are eligible for the All-Academic team if they earn a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale or have a GPA over 3.00 over the past three semesters.
