Boldt's Professional Career Begins in Germany

The 2009-10 captain of the Dartmouth Big Green, Peter Boldt will begin his professional career playing in Germany as the Greenwich, Connecticut native has signed a contract with Herne for the 2010-11 season, the team announced Wednesday.

"We were particularly in search of a right-handed shooter, who not only has strengths on defense, but also offensively for the team,” said Matthias Roos of Herne. “Peter takes on these properties exactly. For a defender who gets a lot of ice, he has relatively few penalties. His strengths are in defense, but he is also a good offensive player.”

A finalist for the prestigious 2009 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, Boldt played four seasons on defense for the Big Green. He suffered an injury early during his freshman campaign, which limited him to 17 contests in 2006-07, but recovered to compete in 90 games during his final three seasons. Overall, Boldt competed in 107 games with the Big Green, scoring four times and assisting on 28 tallies.

In 2009-10, Boldt was presented with the Dartmouth’s McInnis Award, which is given to the player who best represents the spirit, camaraderie, loyalty and dedication of the team. The senior defenseman finished the year with nine points, playing in 30 games.
