Johnson Tallies in NHL Debut (with Video)
PITTSBURGH -- Nick Johnson, a former Dartmouth standout, celebrated his National Hockey League (NHL) debut in style Thursday, scoring his first NHL goal as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 6-3 defeat to the Washington Capitals.

Johnson, who competed in 12 shifts totaling nine minutes, 21
seconds of ice time, scored at two minutes, 50 seconds of the
second period when he flipped home a rebound off a Ruslan Fedotenko
shot. The goal pulled the Penguins even with the Capitals at 2.
Johnson finished the game with three shots on goal, and was
minus-1.
Johnson, 24, was recalled Thursday by the Penguins from
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. In his second full season with
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Johnson ranks fifth on the club with 22
points (7G-22A) in 26 contests.
Johnson (6-foot-2, 202 pounds) played 56 games with WBS last year
and posted 14 goals, 31 points and a plus-14 rating. The Calgary,
Alberta native tied for second on the club with 10 points (4G-6A)
in 12 playoff games.
Johnson, a third-round selection (67th overall) in the 2004 Draft
by Pittsburgh, played four collegiate seasons at Dartmouth. He
finished his college career with 125 points (57G-68A) in 133 games.
Johnson was named First Team All-ECAC (Eastern College Athletic
Conference) and First Team All-Ivy League as a senior after scoring
10 goals and 35 points in 32 games.
