SAN JOSE, CA--He isn't yet being venomously compared to such infamous NHL irritants as Esa Tikkanen, Claude Lemieux or Sean Avery, but Avalanche winger TJ Galiardi is developing an image as a real pain to play against.
Because that was the collective reputation Joe Sacco came into the Avalanche head coaching position coveting for his team, it's fair to say that the 21-year-old Galiardi embodies Colorado's new approach.
That's especially significant, given his grating, aggravating, high-energy style is on display on the Avalanche's top line, and not as a change-of-pace, lunch bucket-type fourth-liner.
