Stempniak Striving for Consistency

PRAGUE, Czech Republic - Lee Stempniak was a steal. He joined the Coyotes from Toronto last season in a trade for a minor-league defenseman and two later-round draft choices. The first time he was on the ice with the Coyotes he scored a goal, and he notched 14 goals and four assists in 18 games.
He seemed to discover a "zip" when he joined the team, coach Dave Tippett said, noting that his shooting percentage in Toronto was about 9 percent, and it skyrocketed to 33 percent after the trade.
He will be aiming to recapture that touch when the Coyotes open their season with games Saturday and Sunday against the Boston Bruins.
