Ouellette Returns to Austria
Mike Ouellette, a former Dartmouth standout, has joined the Graz 99ers (Austria), the team announced Wednesday. Ouellette signed a contract in July with the Kassel Huskies (Germany); however, Kassel was recently disbanded.
Ouellette joins Graz after spending the 2009-10 season with Medvescak Zagreb (Austria). In 52 games with Zagreb, the Kamloops, British Columbia native netted 24 goals and added 24 assists.
Bill Gilligan, coach of the 99ers, is looking forward to the new appointment: "Mike can and will strengthen us - he has demonstrated that he is in top shape and very valuable for his team."
"I am looking forward to a great season with the Graz99ers," said Ouelette.
Prior to signing with Zagreb, Ouellette spent the two seasons with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL). He amassed 28 goals in two seasons with Hartford. Competing in 146 contests in the AHL, Ouellette compiled a total of 57 points. He also scored twice and added three assists in 11 playoff contests.
In four seasons with the Big Green (2002-06), Ouellette played in 136 games, scoring 58 goals and assisting on 80 tallies.
