Lovejoy in the AHL Chat Room
The following article featuring former Dartmouth standout Ben Lovejoy appeared March 24 on the American Hockey League (AHL) Web site.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman Ben Lovejoy entered the AHL Chat Room to discuss his high plus/minus mark this season, the head coaching transition in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and the experiences of reaching the Calder Cup Finals, making his NHL debut with Pittsburgh, and participating in the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic.
Did you ever think you would be leading the AHL this season with a plus/minus over 40? What do you think makes you and defensive partner Joey Mormina such a great pairing - Kayla from Wilkes-Barre, Penn.
Definitely not. I have been pretty lucky all year and everything has gone pretty well with regards to that statistic. Plus/minus is really a team stat; I get lucky in that when I'm on the ice our forwards have done a great job scoring goals. It is also really nice having a guy like John Curry in net to bail us out when we do get beat.
I think Mormina and I bring very different things, and that has made us an effective pairing. Joe is the best partner I've ever had. He's so big and takes up so much room in the defensive zone that is makes it really tough for opposing players to get chances in close to our net.
