Tanner Glass arrived at the Vancouver Canucks training camp as an
unheralded summer signing who looked destined to provide depth for
the Manitoba Moose.
Glass, 25, will likely end up with the Canucks’ AHL farm
club, but the hard-nosed winger has impressed so much in six
preseason games that he’s clearly moving at great speed up
the depth chart.
The Craven, Sask., native has a rep for being physical and handy
with his fists, but he’s also shown he has the wheels to get
in on the forecheck and the hockey smarts to move the puck
efficiently. In fact, his line — with centre Mario Bliznak
and winger Steve Bernier — against San Jose on Wednesday was
the Canucks’ most effective. Glass scored the Canucks’
third goal in the game, a beauty top-shelf job after the
line’s forecheck caused a turnover.
