HANOVER, N.H. -- The Dartmouth men's hockey team is playing its
last regular-season weekend with contests against Princeton and
Quinnipiac on Feb. 27 an 28. On Friday the Big Green will take on
the second-place Tigers in a game originally slated to be played at
7:00 but will now be played at 7:30 to accomodate the women's
playoff game earlier in the day. On Saturday Dartmouth and
Quinnipiac will meet up at 7:00 pm as the Big Green looks to avenge
a loss to the Bobcats earlier this season.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
The Princeton Tigers come into Thompson Arena on a two-game win
streak as the Orange and Black are in second place in the ECAC
Hockey with a 20-7 overall record, 14-6 in the league. Recently
Princeton defeated Brown and Yale at home. The victory over Yale
closed the gap between the two rival Ivy schools as the Tigers
currently sit just two points back from the Bulldogs and is hoping
to spoil Yale’s chance to win the regular-season title.
Earlier this season Dartmouth shutout Princeton, 4-0 at Hobey Baker
Rink. Senior Brett Wilson continues to lead his team in scoring
with 23 points while classmate Lee Jubinville is second with 18.
Wilson leads the squad in assists with 14 while junior Jody
Pederson is second with 13. The main goal scorer for the Tigers is
junior Mark Magnowski who has 10. Wilson and Jubinville are second
and third with 9 and 8, respectively. In the net Zane Kalemba has
been the stalwart for Princeton as he’s appeared in 26 games
and boasts an impressive, 20-5 record. The junior currently sports
a 1.58 GAA and a .939 save percentage.
VERSUS PRINCETON
Princeton and Dartmouth will meet for the 185th time on Friday in
a series that Dartmouth leads 90-81-13. The Tigers have closed the
gap in recent years and the two are tied 4-4-2 in the last 10
games. Last season Princeton swept the series with a 5-2 win both
at home and on the road. The two teams began meeting on Jan. 9,
1907 with a 5-2 Tigers victory. Since Bob Gaudet took over the
coaching duties at his alma mater, the Big Green has gone 9-13-7.
Earlier this season the Big Green took a 4-0 win over Princeton,
the first shutout of the Tigers since 1954.
