Video: Jones' Goal Named Avs' Play of Week
The following article and video featuring former Dartmouth standout David Jones appeared November 16 on the Colorado Avalance Web site.
David Jones' second short-handed goal of the season was named
the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" for the Nov. 6-12 timeframe,
garnering 63.76% of fan votes.
The forward's tally beat out Chris Stewart's shootout winner
against Chicago (25.23%) and a Craig Anderson save on Kris Versteeg
(11.01%).
The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado's year-end "Play
of the Year" bracket-style tournament - to be determined by
Avalanche fans.
Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new
choices for the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" will be posted for
you to vote upon.
Jones' Second Shorty - 11/6 vs. Chicago
David Jones' second short-handed goal of the season gave
the Avs a big lift in their 4-3 shootout win over Chicago.
Collecting the puck inside the Avalanche's defensive zone, Jones
raced up the left wing and held off Chicago's Dustin Byfuglien
before chipping a backhander past Antti Niemi.
