HANOVER, N.H. -- With an extremely important weekend ahead the
Dartmouth men's hockey team takes to the road for its last
regular-season ECAC road swing. Currently the BIg Green is fourth
in the ECAC standings with 22 points. SLU is just out of 4th with
19 points while Clarkson is 9th with 15 points. Dartmouth is
looking to stay in the top-four to secure a first-round bye in the
ECAC Playoffs. Both Clarkson and St. Lawrence will be looking to
exact revenge on Dartmouth's sweep of the two earlier this
season.
SCOUTING CLARKSON
Clarkson started the season a little slow, enduring a 11-game
non-winning streak. But recently the Golden Knights have begun to
turn it around as Clarkson has won or tied seven of its last 10
games and is currently 9th in the ECAC standings with 15 points.
Earlier this season, the Big Green took a 5-1 victory over the
Knights. Last weekend Clarkson dropped games to Princeton and
Quinnipiac, both by the same 5-3 score. Seven players are leading
the Golden Knights with double-figures as sophomore Scott Freeman
is the leader with 25 points. A pair of seniors, Chris D'Alvise and
Shea Guthrie are second with 18 points. D'Alvise is the team's
leader with 11 goals while Freeman is tops with 21 assists. In net
three different players have seen time but freshman Paul Karpowich
seems to have won the job. The rookie has appeared in 23 games and
has a 6-12-4 record. He sports a .909 save percentage and a 2.81
GAA.
VERSUS CLARKSON
Dartmouth and Clarkson began their series with a 4-1 Golden
Knights victory in New York. Clarkson holds the edge in the series,
62-22-4. Dartmouth holds the advantage in the recent series as the
Big Green has won six of the last 12 meetings with the Knights
taking four along with two ties. Dartmouth is on a two-game win
streak with a 3-1 victory last season and a 5-1 win earlier this
year. In the game earlier this season, Jake Morley gave his team a
one-goal lead but five consecutive goals by the Big Green put the
game out of reach.
