Team Notes: Dartmouth Plays Cornell and Colgate on Winter Carnival Weekend

HANOVER, N.H. -- The Dartmouth men's hockey team is in its final
stretch of the 2008-09 season. The Big Green (12-8-3, 9-5-2 ECAC)
will host ECAC foes, Cornell (15-4-4, 10-3-3) and Colgate (8-15-5,
3-10-3) this weekend during Dartmouth's Winter Carnival. Dartmouth
is attempting to grab four points in a tight league race as the Big
Green is looking to finish as one of the top four teams, earning an
important bye in the first round of the ECAC playoffs.
SCOUTING CORNELL
Cornell had a 10-game unbeaten streak broken on Jan. 23 with a
loss to Yale. Since that defeat the Big Red has either won or tied
three of its last six games. Recently Cornell was defeated, 2-1 by
Princeton. while defeating Quinnipiac by the same score in
overtime. The Big Red is currently in second place of the ECAC
standings with 23 points. Sophomore Riley Nash currently leads the
squad with 21 points (9g and 12a) while junior Colin Greening has
tallied 19 points (7g, 12a). Three more players have scored in
double-figures with 16 and 14 points. In the net Ben Scrivens
continues to be one of the top goalies in the country. The junior
has appeared in 23 games and sports a 15-4-4 record. He currently
has a .948 save percentage and a 1.42 GAA.
VERSUS CORNELL
In one of Dartmouth's longest running series, Cornell holds the
advantage of 71-41-2. The Two teams met for the first time on Feb.
5, 1909 with a 1-0 Big Green win in Hanover. Since Bob Gaudet took
over the reins at his alma mater, his teams have gone 14-11-1. In
that span the Big Green has gone 5-8-1 at Lynah Rink while going
9-3 in Thompson Arena. Earlier this season Cornell used two goals
in the second period to take a 3-1 victory over Dartmouth.
