Thrashers Call on Lewis
The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled former Dartmouth defenseman
Grant Lewis from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League,
according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don
Waddell.
Lewis, 24, has registered 21 assists in 51 games with the Wolves
this season and will be looking to make his NHL debut. The 6-3,
205-pound defenseman is tied for the team lead with a plus-17
rating and is tied for fourth on the Wolves with 21 assists. Lewis
recorded a career-high three assists on Jan. 31 vs. Houston.
The Pittsburgh, Penn. native has collected 37 points (two goals, 35
assists) in 94 career regular season games with the Wolves. He also
appeared in two post-season games with Chicago in 2008, en route to
the Calder Cup Championship.
Prior to his professional career, Lewis spent four seasons at
Dartmouth University from 2003 to 2007, recording 77 points (13
goals, 64 assists) in 120 games. Following the 2003-04 season,
Lewis was selected to the ECAC First All-Star Team, becoming the
first freshman in over 30 years to be given that honor.
Lewis was selected by the Thrashers in the second round, 40th
overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
