Hartwick Signs with Cardiff

The Cardiff Devils (United Kingdom) of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) announced Thursday the signing of former Dartmouth defenceman Mike Hartwick. The Dartmouth graduate is to combine playing with further studies at Cardiff Business School and has agreed a two-year contract.

New Hampshire-born Hartwick, 24, joins the Devils after playing for the Mississippi Sea Wolves in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) last year. In 51 games with Mississippi, Hartwick registered two goals and four assists.

"He's a big strong guy who'll move traffic from in front of the net," said coach Gerad Adams. "He'll help Peter Aubry at the back - and will be a goalie's best friend."
