ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
NASHVILLE, TENN. — Lee Stempniak was an impressionable young
hockey player when he put on a Blues' uniform in 2005. "I showed up
in St. Louis, 22 years old, fresh out of college, never lived on my
own," Stempniak said.
A year later, he became a Blues' feel-good story. A fifth-round
draft pick from Dartmouth University in 2003, Stempniak broke out
with 27 goals and 52 points in his second NHL season.
Fans latched on to the Blues' forward, including one young boy who
nicknamed Stempniak "The General," a reference to the General Lee
car of the "Dukes of Hazzard."
