Maple Leafs Acquire Stempniak
Cliff Fletcher, general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs,
announced this afternoon that the team has obtained former
Dartmouth forward Lee Stempniak from the St. Louis Blues. In
exchange, the Blues will receive defenceman Carlo Colaiacovo and
Alex Steen.
Stempniak, 25, has three goals and 10 assists in 14 games with St.
Louis this season. He has averaged 19:28 in ice-time in 2008-09 and
he was tied for third on the team with 43 shots. His best NHL

and added 25 assists for 52 points in all 82 games. He has 16

goals.
Stempniak was selected to the ECAC All-Rookie Team (2002) and the
conference’s First All-Star Team in 2004 and 2005 while
playing for Dartmouth.
The native of Buffalo, NY was originally St. Louis’ 7th
choice, 148th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
The trade is contingent upon all three players passing their
respective physicals.
