Hockey players, just like anyone else, can suffer from sore backs,
and that's why Komets goaltender Nick Boucher had to miss a
scheduled start Saturday night.
Boucher was named the International Hockey League's Goaltender of
the Week on Monday after winning two games with a .952 save
percentage and 1.50 goals- against average. The Komets were hoping
those numbers would be even better, but Boucher had to miss
Saturday's game with back spasms.
“It's bothered me since college, but it was always just an
afterthought,” Boucher said. “It really started
bothering me this summer after won (the Turner Cup). I got a bit of
a rejuvenation, and I was in the gym and I hurt it doing seated
rows. It was just something where you squeeze your back at the top
and I felt all those muscles tighten up. It's been ongoing thing
since then.”
