Wheeling Adds Grecu
WHEELING, WV -– The Wheeling Nailers, the ‘AA’
affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have signed former Dartmouth
forward Jon Grecu, it was announced today by team President Jim
Brooks. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.
"We believe Jon has the skill and competitive spirit to help us
win games." said Jim Brooks.
Grecu, 22, joins the Nailers from Dartmouth where he wrapped up
his senior season with a career best 21 points (7g, 14a) in 28
games. Grecu follows former Dartmouth defenseman Ben Lovejoy and
forward Nick Johnson in the Penguins organization. In his four
seasons, the Calgary, AB native accumulated 41 points (11g, 29a) in
85 games for the Big Green.
Before playing at Dartmouth, Grecu was the top goal scorer for his
age group in the Alberta Junior Hockey League while playing for the
Calgary Canucks. At just 17 years old, his 24 goals and 29 assists,
helped him to a spot on the Prospects All-Star team and was named
to the AJHL’s All-Rookie team. He was also the Canucks Rookie
of the Year for the 2003-04 season.
