The following article appeared November 13 on the Dartmouth Web site.
HANOVER, N.H. -- The Dartmouth men's hockey team, behind the
play of sophomores Scott Fleming, Adam Estoclet and Joe Stejskal,
is looking to build on its ECAC sweep of Union and Rensselaer last
weekend with home games against No. 19 St. Lawrence and No. 16
Clarkson this Friday and Saturday in Thompson Arena. Game times for
both days will be 7:00 pm. Tickets are still available and can be
purchased by calling (603) 646-2466 or by going to the box offices
at Alumni Gym or Thompson Arena.
SCOUTING ST. LAWRENCE
With a win and a tie last weekend in league play St. Lawrence
comes into Thompson Arena with a 4-2-1 overall record, 1-0-1 in
ECAC play. Prior to a tie against Brown on Nov. 8, the Saints had
won four games straight with victories over Niagara, RIT, New
Hampshire and Yale in nonconference contests. Upperclassmen are
leading the Saints in scoring right now as a pair of seniors and
juniors have been tops for their team. Currently Brock McBride and
Mike McKenzie are the leading scorers with eight total points.
Travis Vermeulen and Shawn Fensel each have five points apiece. SLU
is currently fourth in the ECAC in power play goals as the Saints
have eight total this season, two in league play. In net Alex
Petizian has won the job as the junior has played in six games and
is 4-1-1. He has one of the lowest goals against averages in the
ECAC at 1.81 along with a .940 save percentage. Kain Tisi and Robby
Moss have each played in a game apiece.
VERSUS ST. LAWRENCE
St. Lawrence and Dartmouth have been meeting since 1950 but the
Saints hold a pretty big lead in the overall series with a 51-24-2
record. The first game between the two was a 3-2 win by SLU before
Dartmouth came right back with a 5-3 victory the next year. The Big
Green’s most recent success against the Saints has come under
the tutelage of Bob Gaudet. Since Gaudet began coaching, Dartmouth
has gone 9-13-2. The two sides traded wins last season. Dartmouth
won in Canton, 2-1 while SLU won in Hanover, 8-3.
