ATLANTA -- He has one of the most common names in North America, but after his first 15 NHL games, some Avalanche fans were wondering if David Jones would make a name for himself in the league.
For one night, at least, the Avs rookie put those wonders to rest. Jones, who had no goals and one assist in his first 15 league games this season, easily surpassed that output Tuesday with a goal and two assists in Colorado's 5-2 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers at Philips Arena.
After setting up the Avs' first two goals in the game's first eight minutes, the former Dartmouth star potted his first career marker at 9:45 of the second period when he converted Joe Sakic's pretty pass past Thrashers goalie Johan Hedberg.
